Kimiyo Miyashiro

Kimiyo Miyashiro, 98, of Hilo, died March 14, 2022, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was retired from HELCO and a member of the Church of the Holy Cross.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Janice (Norman) Fujisaki of Virginia; son, Bruce (Judy) Miyashiro of Hilo; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gwendolyn Cabreira

Gwendolyn Mae Cabreira, 69, of Hilo died Feb. 9, 2022, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a sales associate in the Garden Center at Wal-Mart in Hilo and an automotive mechanic.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 27 at Hilo Seventh-Day Adventist Church for a 10 a.m. service. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughter, Kristen (Justin) Bachiller of Hilo; father, Manuel Martinez of Hilo; sister, Carolyn Kekaualua of Hilo; brother, Joseph (Juanita) Cabreira of Florida; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. John Beardsley

The Rev. John W. Beardsley, 91, of Hilo, died Feb. 6, 2022, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Choteau, Montana, he was the retired pastor for the former Trinity Community Assembly of God and Pepeekeo Assembly of God, and secretary for the Hawaii Assemblies of God District.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. March 26 at The House Hilo (2282 Kanoelehua Ave.) for a 2 p.m. service. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Betty Beardsley; children, Keith (Joanie) Beardsley, Janice (Terry) Neumann, and Lisa (John) Tipsword; brothers, Frances (Karla) Beardsley, and Raymond (Glenda) Beardsley; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Mattos

Mary “Aileen” Mattos, 79, of Hilo, died March 2, 2022, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was a retired receptionist for St. Joseph High School and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. prayer service. Prayer service at 11 a.m.; committal service will follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire; no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Albert Mattos of Hilo; sons, Ernest (Leinani Raymond) Mattos and Ryan (Roxy) Mattos of Hilo; daughters, Andrea (Craig) Yugawa of Mountain View and Audra (Russell) Paiva of Hilo; hanai daughter, Shan (Richard) Benson of Los Angeles; brothers, Everett (Aileen) Franco and Philip (Tanya) Velez of Paauilo; sisters, Andrea Decker of Mountain View and Peggy Velez of Arizona; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wakako Yoshida

Wakako Yoshida, 102, of Laupahoehoe, died March 5, 2022 at his residence. Born June 14, 1919, in Waiakea Uka Camp 9, Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the Honohina-Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission.

Funeral services pending. The family requests flowers and koden (monetary offerings) be omitted.

She is survived by children, Arlene Kawabata of Waimea, Gary Yoshida and Jerry Yoshida, both of Honolulu, Glenn (Joanne) Yoshida of Cupertino, California, Lloyd (Mary) Yoshida of Sunnyvale, California, and Lei (Anthony) Lum of Kailua, Oahu; sister-in-law, Yaeko Yoshimura of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Charles M. Heishman, 71, of Kailua-Kona, died March 8, 2022, in Waihiawa, Oahu. He was born in San Diego.
